Surf Ponchos and Other Options for Getting Nekked on the Beach

When our gang first started surfing I told a buddy a great invention would be a towel that you wore like a tank top so you could change out of your suit on the side of the road. As usual, I was way behind the curve — the FCS Black Changing Towel Poncho was made a long time ago just for that.

If you’re a surfer, it’s pretty clear why this thing’s rad. If you’re not, it’s because surfers are normally naked under their wetsuits, and changing in and out requires deft towel handling.

The pricetag seemed a little steep, so I looked around, but all I could find was the GREEN MONSTER PONCHO TOWEL. If you find another option, let me know and I’ll update.

Other changing options:
The Wetsuit changing shackle mat. You stand on the mat, pull it up around your waist, then cinch the drawstring and it stays around your waist while you get into the nekkeds. Not sure what happens after that, there were no more instructions.

The Hakama Changing Towel / Robe looks a little weird and is just as expensive, but seems to get the same thing accomplished.

And the Adult Changing Robe is funny, but $10 cheaper for those of you that are price-sensitive.
