Saturdays Surf NYC – An Urban Surf Oasis

Saturdays Surf NYC – An Urban Surf Oasis

I got an opportunity to visit Saturdays Surf NYC, the surf shop on Crosby Street, while I was in NYC for Christmas this year.  Very different from the surf shops I’ve discovered on the West Coast, Saturdays has a unique, simple feel about it. It’s not cluttered or filled with every surf product you’ve ever heard of; instead, it has a small selection of nice boards, board shorts (Lightning Bolt and Birdwell), bikinis, surf films, books and a few t-shirts. In addition, there’s a little coffee bar in the front. It’s a small space (as is to be expected in NYC), but I really felt like I was in a special, surf oasis of sorts. The friendly and helpful staff was the icing on the cake.

Also, check out this quick film by Saturdays below. I’m definitely hitting the urban surf scene in the Rockaways next time I’m in the city.

About Surfing In Jeans

Ever seen people skiing in jeans? We have and it’s cool. We don’t have snow in LA so we surf in jeans.  And we look sophisticated. So read our stuff.       Related Posts: The Fonz Fin Reunion...
